Lochmaddy
Ferry to Leverburgh Harris.
Golden Road (!) to Tarbert.
42 miles including the ferry.
Due to the inclement i.e.typical for The Hebrides weather we decided to avoid the main road round the west of Harris thereby missing the famous Luskentyre Bay. Instead we took the more sheltered (Ha!) eastern route on part of what is called The Golden Road, because it cost so much to build. It is very scenic, and would be worth the effort on a nice day which it wasn't. We were very glad to get to the Harris Hotel where we were literally given a warm welcome being shown the bike shed, the drying room, and our bedrooms before checking in.
This was Pierre just after being blown off his bike by the wind.
He declined to make use of the luxury facilities this particular bus-stop had to offer.
The excellent Harris Hotel Tarbert Isle of Harris.
