Heritage 23. New Community Project in Michigan.

You might recall a couple of posts back I was waxing about the success of the Scottish Coastal Rowing project and that I'd had an e-mail from Chris Perkins about the Skiffie World Championship.

Well it looks like Chris has become Alec Jordan's unofficial Press Officer as I've had another missive from the Wee Green Shed in the North telling me of Alec's latest exploits. It seems the International Man of Mystery has jetted off to Michigan to help build the first Heritage 23 Mackinaw Boat.

An organisation called Heritage Coast Sail and Rowing  has been formed to promote community based boat-building and competition very similar to the Scottish Coastal Rowing community.  The boat design chosen is a modern version of the Mackinaw Boat which was used extensively in the Great Lakes in the 1800's.  Alec has worked on producing a kit so that groups of amateurs can build the boat, and he's over there helping them get the first one built.  You can read all about it here.

Of Course when I said Chris had sent a missive it was in fact nothing short of a press release to bloggers and the likes which is why you can already read about this on several of the blogs in the right hand column.  There's no such thing as an exclusive around here.

I wish them every success with their project and hope that pretty soon they are holding their first World Series.

And just in case you were wondering what an International Man of Mystery looks like,
 here 'ye go.

I think its the shades.
